Blizzard has just released a teaser for Dragonflight, the upcoming expansion of World of Warcraft. In it, one of the most powerful dragons of Azeroth explains what to expect when you play the new class of the Evoker in WoW.
What kind of teaser is this? Nozdormu, the leader of the bronze dragonflight and essentially the ruler over time, explains that an “ancient enemy” has returned. We don’t know exactly who it is – but the images suggest a dragon in the category of the monstrous Galakrond.
In the following scenes, the old dragon elaborates a bit on what he has experienced, and you see images from the history of World of Warcraft. His own story, however, has already been written. Nozdormu knows even his own death.
The story of the Dracthyr is just beginning, more precisely: just before the release of Dragonflight. You can see the teaser here:
Dracthyr get their own short film series
Who are the Dracthyr? The Evokers of the Dracthyr are both a new class and a new race and they will be playable starting November 16, so already a few weeks before the expansion’s release. Dragonflight is set to launch on November 29.
Dracthyr can fly by default, wear chainmail armor, and serve in groups as healers or ranged damage dealers. Their unique feature is, among other things, that they fight at 30 meters – so essentially right between melee and ranged fighters.
In the interview with the chief developers of Dragonflight, they explained that Evokers of the Dracthyr primarily rely on mobility. That is their hallmark and should reflect in their play style.
MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus was able to play the Evoker already and is very enthusiastic. Here is gameplay of the new class:
What kind of series is this? At the end of the teaser, a brief glimpse promises short films revolving around the Dracthyr, titled “Legacies.” Since “Episode 1” is mentioned, we assume that a series of videos is planned. Episode 1 will be released on October 25.
Judging by the title and the teaser, the short film series will mainly focus on the past and history of the Dracthyr, perhaps even of the Dragon Isles.
Just a few minutes after release, the teaser can accumulate tons of positive comments in German and English. Even under usually fierce criticism, the short films from the game studio are often praised highly:
