From the Korean MMO Bless, there are now first images from character creation. It seems that Bless will not have the gender lock that many Asian MMOs typically use and that Western MMO fans dislike so much.
Asian MMO specialist Steparu has released a video from the character creation of the Korean MMO Bless. This comes from the second beta phase. Those looking forward to a thrilling trip, like the one back in Black Desert, will be disappointed: In the second closed beta phase, customization is disabled. You can only work with pre-made characters.
However, that is not the most important takeaway from the video: It appears that Bless does not have an active gender lock, which bothers and deters many Western fans in Asian MMOs. In Black Desert, for example, you will only be able to select “one” class, and the gender and race will also be set. We are spared that in Bless.
Also, in Bless, the classes will be limited to certain races – but that’s something we’re already used to here in the West.
However, Bless could additionally introduce a faction lock (like in the past with RvR-oriented games like DAOC or early WoW). This means: Players can only create characters on a server that belong to one of the two factions. In a PvP-heavy game like Bless, this seems appropriate. Those who want to “change” factions must first delete all characters of the other faction.
