We already asked you before the release which of the three main characters from Crimson Desert you would prefer to play, and you had a clear favorite. Now it resonates from the community that reality looks quite different. Do you see it similarly?
What has been shown by the community? In a post by Reddit user _syphex_107 in the Crimson Desert subreddit, the player reveals that after 45 hours in the game, he spent all his time only with the main character Kliff. He hasn’t even touched the second heroine, the fighter Damiane, and he hasn’t even unlocked the third, Oongka, to play as him.
That he is not the only one quickly becomes clear through the confirmations of many other players. While many of them spend hundreds of hours with Kliff, they devote only a few minutes to no time at all to the other characters.
Players didn’t necessarily choose Kliff voluntarily as their main character – but how does it look for you?
Why are so few people playing with the other characters? It’s not because they find Kliff as a protagonist incredibly great. It’s no coincidence that he was already given the name “Jon Snow for the poor”.
This has simply not changed throughout the course of the game, as Kliff, despite other playable characters, is still the protagonist of the story. Damiane and Oongka not only have to be unlocked, but are deliberately excluded from some missions.
Based on the reactions on Reddit, it becomes clear: Many players see this as wasted potential.
“I played a few hours with Damiane and I had fun! Then they took her out for almost half the game and I didn’t want to play with her anymore after that,” writes AMS_Rem and received over 760 upvotes for it. thumbscrolllord also reports: “I was just about to start an adventure with her when the prompt ‘This is Kliff’s story’ suddenly appeared and I thought: ‘Oh, okay.’ I completed the housework mission with her and then had to switch – I really felt sorry for her, man.”
Now we ask you: What are your thoughts on this topic? We asked you before the release which character you preferred to play, and Kliff was not declared the winner. Much more, you wanted to play as Damiane, as 39% of all 744 respondents stated.
Kliff received votes from 20% of respondents, while Oongka got only 6%. 35% wanted to find out while playing which character they liked best.
Now that the game has been out for a while, we want to hear from you:

In Crimson Desert, you will inevitably have to get used to spending most of your playtime with Kliff as the protagonist. However, for those who wish for a completely different Kliff, perhaps even a non-male one, there might be good news about the project of another fan of Crimson Desert: A fan of Crimson Desert frees you not only from the generic Kliff but also from his gender
