The developers of Battlefield 6 have talked about new maps and announced which map from a past installment will be coming soon – and it’s already causing some controversy.
Which map is it? Anyone who has played Battlefield 4 knows the map Golmud Railway. It was for a long time the map that excited the community and was featured on the classic Battlefield 24/7 servers. No wonder that the developers of Battlefield 6 have now announced that they will bring this map into the latest Battlefield.
While they want to modify the map, they aim to keep its charm and modernize it slightly to better fit the latest installment in the series. However, despite the map’s consistent popularity, there are also many detractors.

Why is the announcement causing controversy? As with many popular maps, there are also players who feel the exact opposite of joy when they think of Golmud Railway. Although the map is the exact opposite of a meat grinder and emphasizes vehicles and aircraft more, many players are not very excited about the map.
This is currently splitting the Battlefield 6 community into two factions. One faction is looking forward to the beloved map that has been a fan favorite for years. The other half could well do without it and wished that a better map from an older installment of the series had been brought to Battlefield 6 instead.
A user on Reddit argues: “No, compared to some of the better maps, it is definitely bad. Is it the worst map of all time? No. Would I have picked it from the great maps of BF4? Also no […]”.
In various Reddit posts, the community is currently debating whether one should be happy or angry, but until the map’s release, there will likely be no final decision.
What else have the developers announced? Golmud Railway is not the only map that the developers of Battlefield 6 want to release. The new map “Contaminated” is currently in the testing program Battlefield Labs and is supposed to be similar to the map St. Quentin Scar from Battlefield 1 or Arras from Battlefield 5.
The developers have not revealed much about the new map yet, except that they are currently testing how many land and air vehicles benefit the map. Additionally, there is a first teaser image of the map showing us a village in a mountainous landscape.
With the new maps, the developers of Battlefield 6 want to win back their players who have lost interest since the release.
