In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare there is a nasty glitch that allows you to get kills through a wall. This was particularly bitter for a pro who experienced it in a tournament.
This is the glitch: Normally, Modern Warfare aims for brutal realism. Kills through stone walls don’t usually count, but that’s exactly what’s possible.
These bugs are referred to as “Wall-Bangs” and have been a problem for a while. Now a new spot seems to have emerged that houses this issue.
Wall-Bang discovered on Gun Runner
This is where the glitch occurs: The affected map is “Gun Runner”. There is a house where you can find a large room with showers. If you shoot at the wall of the showers, you create the Wall-Bang.
The big problem here is that the Wall-Bang does not work from both sides. While pro Byron “Nastie” Plumridge is inside the house shooting in his clip on Twitter, he cannot eliminate his opponent. This player then only fires a few shots back at the house wall and directly takes out his competitor.
You should pay attention to this: When you’re on the map, you shouldn’t necessarily camp in this room full of showers and think you are safe. The wall behind you is apparently bugged.
This is causing discussions: Nastie’s video is generating a lot of discussion among professionals, as his colleague Jordan “JKap” Kaplan showed a video from a CoD tournament where the Wall-Bang was used unintentionally.
There, JKap was taken out through the wall and quickly realized that this was only possible because of a Wall-Bang. You can also see this in a video. At 21:17 a kill was achieved through the wall:
Will Infinity Ward respond? The developers of Modern Warfare will certainly investigate the bug. So far, however, there is nothing about it on their Trello board of known issues.
But if such a bug even affects the official league play, the developers are likely to address it. A bug fix in the near future is certainly conceivable.
However, there are also other bugs that the developers need to take care of. One of these bugs probably wouldn’t need to be fixed, according to the wishes of many players.
