Apex Legends is slowly and steadily losing influence on Twitch. Fans already have some ideas about why this might be the case and how to combat it.
How is Apex Legends doing at the moment? According to the statistics page SullyGnome, fans watched approximately 55 million hours of Apex Legends on Twitch last month. (As of April 2, 2019)
That is only about half of the current leader League of Legends and approximately 40 million hours less than competitor Fortnite.
The particularly controversial aspect is that Apex Legends was able to achieve about one and a half times the viewing time around the same time in March. In our report on the past and current state of Apex Legends in March, viewers watched Apex Legends for 123 million hours.

This is why fans are losing interest in Apex Legends
The reasons for the drop of over 50% in the last 30 days, despite the start of Season 1, are attributed by players to several factors.
Cheaters remain a problem: After famous streamers like Dr DisRespect urged Respawn to finally do something about the increasing number of cheaters in Apex Legends, the developers took action.
According to a report, over 350,000 hackers have already been banned and the introduction of a new reporting system should further assist in the fight against rule-breakers.
However, that does not seem to be enough. There are still numerous reports and complaints about cheaters. A cheat seller even boasted about their earnings. In a reddit post, a scene appeared where a brazen hacker named “Reports don’t work” simply shoots multiple players one after the other.
Leveling has no incentive: The current maximum level of Apex Legends is 100. After that, players can still earn a bit of in-game currency by collecting experience points, but there isn’t much to do with it at the moment.
It is only used to purchase new legends and very rarely for special skins, which must already have a base version available.
Players complain that they have no incentive to play anymore. Especially crafting materials should, according to many fans, be included as rewards, since at level 100 they can only be obtained through purchasing loot boxes or by leveling the Battle Pass in Belgium.
With the material, they could choose for themselves which skins or other cosmetics they get. Thus, they simply miss something, as the currency just sits around.
The Battle Pass is dull: Another issue is the Battle Pass and its contents. Since Season 1, players can purchase a Battle Pass and level it up. They gradually receive special loot. However, the Battle Pass has two problems:
- it takes forever to level up, because there are no challenges
- the rewards are not worth it for most players
Although the Battle Pass has a mechanic that makes it particularly interesting for players with little time, the Pass itself is generally poorly received by most fans. It takes a long time and the rewards do not motivate players to play.

Some streamers send the wrong signals: One last problem was raised by a reddit user, who also addressed a general difficulty. The user ReadyToRee demands that toxic streamers should receive a ban.
He directly points to a streamer who regularly insults his teammates or wishes them cancer and death, or worse, while playing Apex Legends on camera.
While such streamers are not the norm, as can be seen with the popular pro Shroud, they harm the reputation of the game and may scare away viewers.
What do you think are the reasons for the sudden decline of Apex Legends?
Maybe the upcoming content will help once again. Two new weapons Respawn may have already shown:
