From June 7 to 13, there was a lot happening in the MMORPGs. A new MMORPG has been released and two more have been announced. One of them, Lost Ark, will arrive in 2021. We at MeinMMO have summarized all the important news of the week.
The highlights of the week:
- At the Summer Game Fest, Lost Ark was finally announced for the West. It is set to launch in Fall 2021. We reveal why so many are excited about the MMORPG.

- A new MMORPG about Digimon is coming, and the first images look really good.
The hot topic of the week: The new Mega-Dungeon in WoW isn’t even out yet, but it’s already unpopular. The reason is the poor loot, which is supposed to be improved with a later update.

An item in ESO is highly sought after, Aion gets Classic servers
This week, this is what happened in the major MMORPGs:
- In ESO, all players are eager for the new Mythic item. It is very strong for DPS. We reveal how to get the “Watkilt of a Harpooner”.
- In Retail WoW, players are still waiting for Patch 9.1. In Classic, however, a crazy player leveled 60 characters to level 60.
- Guild Wars 2 released a small patch with balance adjustments (via Guildnews).
- Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida answered our questions in an interview. He explains among other things, why solo elements are so important for MMORPGs.
- Black Desert announced the Healing-Ball on June 19. We will learn how BDO will proceed for the rest of the year and into 2022.
This is what happened in the smaller MMORPGs:
- Aion is bringing Classic servers to the West. However, it is still unclear whether a version for Europe will come.
- Blade & Soul is getting not only a new engine in 2021, but also a new class that uses two swords in battle.
- Albion Online, the PvP MMORPG from Germany, can now be played completely and with crossplay on Android and iOS.
- Lord of the Rings Online has postponed the launch of the new raid tier from Khazad-dûm by a week (via Lotro).
- In an interview with Venturebeat, the 15 years of Dungeons & Dragons Online was discussed (via Venturebeat).
This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- Steven Sharif, the Game Director of Ashes of Creation, answered our questions in an interview. It was about Kickstarter, game development in general, and the release of Ashes.
- Project TL is the successor to Lineage and is being developed by NCSoft. Although there is still no release date, there are new infos about costs, platforms, and first tests of Project TL.
- Odin: Valhalla Rising will launch in Korea in June and has shown new gameplay.
- With The Legend of Neverland, a new MMORPG is starting that resembles Genshin Impact.
- New World released a new video at the Summer Game Fest, summarizing a lot but not sharing new information (via YouTube).
- The second closed beta of Elyon has been announced for August (via Twitter).
