WoW Classic is repeatedly haunted by characters who have only one goal: to ruin someone else’s day.
PvP in World of Warcraft is an integral part of the game. At least when it happens somewhat fairly. However, now and then some find a way to position themselves so unfairly that any resistance is impossible. Even worse, when it is used to farm significantly weaker characters. This occurs occasionally in WoW Classic – as shown by the almost shocking example of an Orc Hunter.
What does the Orc do? The Orc Hunter positions himself in the Redridge Mountains on a mountain range and uses the ability “Eyes of the Beast” to take direct control of his companion. As a hunter pet, he then jumps off the mountain to hunt low-level members of the Alliance. After all, the Redridge Mountains is one of the earlier areas of WoW, where you mainly encounter Alliance characters between levels 20 and 30. The Orc can easily defeat those with his beast.

What’s the problem with that? Basically, encountering “a nasty Orc who is many levels higher” is certainly part of the classic PvP experience of every Alliance character. However, the vehemence with which this Orc acts reminds some of the legendary South Park episode “Make Love, Not Warcraft” – where a ganker does nothing but bully his fellow players all day.
That seems to be the case with the Orc as well. Reports from several victims indicate that the player has been doing this for years – almost every day for several hours.
The problem lies in how the Orc positions himself. To even reach that high viewpoint where he is unreachable, the Orc has to traverse a long distance across the continent. He even has to play multiple accounts simultaneously to rush Alliance characters onto elevations and further into the Redridge Mountains, as this video shows:
Is this even allowed? Even though the rules in WoW Classic are generally a bit more lenient because the game largely remains in its “it is as it was back then” state, the Orc’s behavior is not allowed and can result in account penalties. It is not permitted to engage in PvP at locations that are only accessible through exploits and where other players do not have access.
And no, saying: “Others could also run this huge distance and create multiple accounts and characters for it,” will not hold.
The community is caught between admiration and disgust: In the WoW subreddit, this incident is discussed animatedly and opinions are divided on whether one should be fascinated by this persistence or doubt the Orc’s mental state.
