With the Headwinds update, ARC Raiders received a useful new item that can save your rarest weapons in the worst case.
What kind of item is it? ARC Raiders received the Headwinds update on January 27 with Patch 1.13.0, which brought some new features, including new colorful ducks. In addition, a new augment was added, the epic loot mark 3 with the “Safekeeper” property.
The new augment allows you to store any item in the safety pouch, including weapons. This makes the Safekeeper loot mark unique, because with another augment you cannot store weapons in the safety pouch.
The savior of your best weapons
How does the augment save your best weapons? You can also store your best weapons in the safety pouch with the augment to protect them when you are not using them. Weapons like the Hullcracker and the Equalizer are considered a death sentence when you equip them actively. They are rare, expensive to craft, and deal great damage against the mightiest ARCs.
Other raiders can see these weapons hanging on your backpack when you equip them and shoot you in the back for the promising loot. Therefore, you should only equip them while fighting a queen or a matriarch. Once the battle against the mighty ARC is over, these weapons should disappear back into the backpack as quickly as possible.
Since you couldn’t previously store weapons in the safety pouch of your augment, you always lost them upon death. With the new augment, you can save your Hullcracker and Equalizer if a raider betrays you after seeing you with the weapons.
Alternatively, you can secure new weapons you found while looting with the augment.
What does the augment bring to quests? The new augment is practically the match-winner for certain missions. In the quest “Industrial Espionage”, for example, you need to find a weapon stash on the “Buried City” map and deliver a “Burletta” there. However, if a player shoots you on the way to the weapon stash, the Burletta is also gone.
The handgun is neither rare nor expensive, but it is annoying that you now have to craft a new one. The new augment can protect you from this – if it is worth it to you to use an epic augment for a Burletta.
