AMD has dominated the consumer market for a few years now: the so-called 3XD processors from AMD are unquestioningly at the top, and CPUs like the Ryzen 7 7800x3D or the Ryzen 7 9800x3D are among the most popular processors among gamers.
Now, Intel has launched two new processor product lines to challenge AMD and reclaim its position.

What products are involved? Specifically, the product lines “Arrow Lake” and “Panther Lake” are in focus. While the Core Ultra 200K Plus and 200HX Plus (codename Arrow Lake Refresh) are expected to be released in March or April 2026, the actual flagship of Panther Lake, the Core Ultra X9 388H, is set to arrive as early as the end of January 2026.
Especially Panther Lake is likely to be exciting for many. Intel not only relies on a new manufacturing process but also installs a completely new graphics chip on its processors, the Xe3 graphics unit. This is said to be significantly faster than previously installed modules.
This specifically means: For laptops without a dedicated graphics card, Intel could suddenly become a real option again or even relevant for new handhelds. Until now, AMD led the market with its Ryzen Z1 Extreme, which is featured in many devices.

What about AMD? But the competition is not resting. AMD is preparing its own products with its “Ryzen AI 400” series (codename Gorgon Point) that are intended to counter Intel’s new processors. Additionally, AMD plans to launch on January 22, gaining an important lead over Intel. However, the market launch is initially only planned for China.
For most gamers, however, another processor may become significantly more exciting: The Ryzen 7 9850X3D is expected to be released at the end of January, and it should be notably more powerful than the very popular Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
