The Lich
“The Lich”, most commonly known as “Vecna”, comes from the Dungeons & Dragons universe. He is one of the most powerful undead wizards and the ultimate evil. He has an average height, moves at 4.6 m/s, and has a terror radius of 32 meters. Survivors can be tormented by him with four different spells, which he can freely choose and all have different cooldown times.
Special Ability: Unspeakable Darkness – The Lich’s ability essentially consists of 4 different spells. By pressing the special action key, one can select the desired spell via a mouse movement, which is then equipped. The corresponding spell is then used with the normal ability key. The available options are:
- Flight of the Damned: Vecna summons 5 magical skeletons that fly in a straight line, penetrate objects, and injure affected survivors.
- Sphere of Disenchantment: Vecna summons a large, invisible sphere that moves in one direction. Upon contact with the sphere, survivors are marked by the killer instinct and magical items are temporarily disabled.
- Flight: Vecna can fly for a while and move very quickly. He can fly over pallets and climbing opportunities, which ends the flight afterwards.
- Wizard’s Hand: Vecna summons a magical hand that holds and blocks a pallet or quickly rights an overturned pallet.
In addition, Vecna always creates 6 special treasure chests for the survivors, which can contain magical items. These items can grant survivors special abilities, such as seeing the Sphere of Deception or perceiving Vecna’s aura while flying.
How to use Treacherous Darkness correctly? Since Treacherous Darkness consists of a total of 4 spells, it is difficult to choose a specific guide for the spell rotation, and it often depends on the situation.
- Basically, you should keep the Sphere of Deception on cooldown as much as possible to gather as much information as possible about where survivors are located. The sphere is also capable of detecting survivors in lockers.
- The Flight of the Damned is a double-edged sword. While it can cover a large area and even injure multiple survivors at once, survivors can simply evade it by crouching. Against skilled survivors, the spell is often useless and only hits when it comes unexpectedly.
- Flying has a very long cooldown and can be used both in pursuit and to cross the map. Most of the time, however, you will only use the spell to bridge large distances.
- The Mage’s Hand can instantly end dangerous loops and will likely be the spell you keep on cooldown almost permanently. However, be careful not to reset too many pallets – after all, survivors can then knock them over again.
Notably, the Lich’s addons have a massive impact on his playstyle. Hardly any killer can be adjusted and change their gameplay as much through addons as the Lich can. It is worth taking a close look at the addons.
Who is the Lich suitable for? The Lich is suitable for anyone who wants to play a true, dark mage who throws spells around in a continuous barrage. However, one should be aware that normal melee attacks are still important for Vecna to take down survivors. At the same time, Vecna is also something for strategists – keeping track of the cooldown of four abilities requires some practice.
