Khorne, the Lord of Skulls
Of all the chaos gods, Khorne is the most brutal. He stands for war, battle, blood, hatred, and violence, but he is also the god of honor, pride, and courage. Khorne’s motto is roughly: “It doesn’t matter where the blood flows, as long as it flows,” and his battle cry: “Blood for the Blood God, skulls for the Skull Throne!”
Khorne is usually depicted as a massive fighter with the head of a blood dog in brass armor, sitting on his famous skull throne. Smoke billows from his nose, and instead of feet, he has cloven hooves.
The monstrous sword of the blood god can supposedly “hack the fabric of reality itself” when Khorne swings it to unleash his demons into our world. He does not care who dies in the subsequent battle, whether his demons or someone else, as long as there is a bloody fight.
In the warp, Khorne inhabits the brass citadel with a moat of boiling blood and guardians who spit liquid metal at any intruder. In his throne room, his throne of brass stands “on a mountain of trillions of skulls of mortals.”
The Great Demons of Khorne are the Bloodthirsters with leathery wings, axes, and whips. Khorne’s followers are blessed with an enormous thirst for blood and are among the best fighters ever. They despise ranged combat, as it is not personal enough.
