Aion 2 offers a very fast action combat system, where you can trigger multiple skills with just one key. MeinMMO has a trick for you that not only simplifies the fights but also increases your damage.
Through our table of contents, you can jump directly to the points that are important to you:
What are Macros? You have probably noticed that in the skill menu of Aion 2, you can link multiple attacks with a slot in your skill bar. You stack them like a tower and then process the attacks sequentially with a key press. The ability at the bottom has the highest priority, followed by the skill above it, and so on.
This is already quite comfortable, but it has two downsides:
- You have to manually press the corresponding key again and again.
- Your spam attack without cooldown cannot be optimally interwoven with the active skills with cooldown.
Our trick addresses exactly these two downsides!
How does this increase damage?
To deal maximum damage in Aion 2, you actually need to deal with interrupting skill animations early and interweaving the base attack into the rotation. Sounds like pro gameplay for min-maxers, but can be easily implemented by any casual player through macros. You execute the animation interruption through your base attack, which you activate by default using the left mouse button.
The only thing you need to know now: You can have both your base attack and your macro work simultaneously by simply holding down both keys at the same time!
In this case, your character processes the basic skill priority sequence of the macro while repeatedly weaving in your basic attack. This results in higher damage, even though you are technically only holding down 2 keys.
Aion 2: Using Macros and Common Mistakes
How to use Macros? For this, you first need to define a key for “Skill-Macros” in the options under “Key Settings” / “General” / “Gameplay”, for example, the right mouse button.
Then switch to the skill menu and select “Skill-Macros” at the top right (above your active skills). Click on “Add Macro”, then on the icon, and finally select a slot in the skill bar that you have already linked multiple skills to.
When you press your macro key now, for example, the right mouse button, you process the skills from bottom to top again. The new advantage of the macro: You no longer have to press the key repeatedly, but can simply hold it down. Additionally, you can add more skills to the macro in other slots of the skill bar.

DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE! Theoretically, you can directly include the base attack in the macro and only hold down one key. However, this will lead to a loss of damage overall because the game less frequently incorporates the base attack in the automated attack sequence. You only achieve the most efficient animation interruptions if you trigger your base attack separately using the left mouse button.

Aion 2: How to Create a Macro for Beginners
What should be included in my macro? Your macro should include all skills that you want to use as often as possible, rather than situationally. Factors such as your attack speed, cooldowns of skills, and skill levels determine how efficient your macro ends up being.
So initially focus on one or a maximum of two macros, and only include skills you want to use immediately as soon as they are ready.
The skill with the highest priority goes at the very bottom. Above it follows the second most important skill, then the third most important, and finally the fourth most important skill. IMPORTANT: Do not place skills without cooldown in the lower positions. In that case, every skill above would never be used because the game would continuously use the attack with no cooldown that you have prioritized higher.
With the correct positioning, you use your strongest skills with cooldown as soon as they are ready. Once all cooldowns are running, your base attack and the second spam attack from position 3 or 4 alternate until the next cooldown is finished. Thanks to the macros, you can infinitely go through this rotation by simply holding down the left mouse button and the macro key. It can’t get simpler than that.

All other skills, such as mobility maneuvers, important buffs/debuffs, or emergency spells, should be assigned to extra hotkeys for targeted use when needed. These situational abilities would only unnecessarily clutter and degrade any macro.
