Note: Due to the numerous adjustments in recent months, the class balance in the Korean version of Aion 2 is currently in a very good state. For example, there are no outliers that deal the highest damage in every situation. There is also no class that is unplayable everywhere. So it is best to try out the class you are most interested in first.
The Gladiator
- Official description: A frontline fighter wielding a massive sword and raging like a furious storm across the battlefield.
- Role: Offensive melee fighter / Off-Tank
- Suitability for beginners: High
Here you can see gameplay from the Gladiator:
The Gladiator is the most robust frontline fighter with an offensive focus and deals decent damage against multiple enemies with his two-handed sword. Additionally, he can support as a tank if needed and heal himself through lifesteal.
His disadvantage compared to various ranged fighters is that he only deals damage when his opponents are within reach of his sword. Moreover, there are other classes that deal more damage to individual targets and in long fights. However, due to his robust, brutal playstyle, he is still well-suited for beginners.
The Templar
- Official description: An oath-bound guardian who withstands like a fortress wall and controls the battlefield with an unbreakable shield.
- Role: Main Tank / Group Control
- Suitability for beginners: Very high
Here you can see gameplay from the Templar:
The Templar is, with his heavy armor and shield, the prototype of the tank. He can take heavy hits and control enemies with his skills. The Templar forgives many mistakes, making him excellent for beginners. However, you need to live with his comparatively low damage, which makes solo leveling quite slow. Every group will gladly welcome you for this.
The Assassin
- Official description: A cold-blooded assassin who emerges from the shadows and strikes silently.
- Role: Offensive melee fighter
- Suitability for beginners: Low
Here you can see gameplay from the Assassin:
The Assassin is the glass cannon of Aion 2. He deals enormous burst damage from stealth in a short time, making him perfectly suited to eliminate dangerous high-priority targets. With his tremendous mobility, he can stay close to his target.
However, the same applies to him: if opponents are out of reach of his blades, he deals no damage – and his blades are even shorter than the Gladiator’s. Furthermore, his area damage is comparatively low, and he absorbs a lot of damage when hit. To prevent this, you need to learn to fight and demonstrate quick reflexes. For beginners, the Assassin is therefore not suitable.
The Ranger
- Official description: A silent hunter who decides the course of battle with a single, decisive shot.
- Role: Physical Offensive Ranged Fighter
- Suitability for beginners: Medium
Here you can see gameplay from the Ranger:
The Ranger focuses on attacks from a great distance and traps. With his control options and high mobility, he can kite opponents effectively. It becomes problematic if his opponent manages to engage him in melee combat. He has clear weaknesses there. His playstyle is heavily positional-dependent.
However, those who can shoot freely from the hip currently achieve nearly the highest damage values of all classes – at least if you already have decent equipment. Rarely is another DPS specialization as gear-dependent as this one.
The Chanter
- Official description: An esteemed guardian who strengthens allies with divine blessing and unwavering protection.
- Role: Hybrid support who can heal and deal damage
- Suitability for beginners: Medium
Here you can see gameplay from the Chanter:
Those who want to deal maximum damage and heal as best as possible are wrong with the Chanter. While he can do both, he does so only mediocre. However, he provides the team with a selection of strong auras and buffs. Additionally, he brings a certain flexibility and can support wherever needed.
In solo play, this flexibility can be very useful. Due to the higher damage, he progresses faster than the Cleric, while still having healing options in case of emergency. However, in the endgame, this advantage can turn into a disadvantage. For the most challenging content, he lacks the healing potential and resurrection abilities of the Cleric. At the same time, he cannot reach the DPS values of offensive experts.
The Cleric
- Official description: A holy guardian who preserves life with the gentle touch of light.
- Role: Healer
- Suitability for beginners: Very high
Here you can see gameplay from the Cleric:
The Cleric possesses the best group healing and protection spells in Aion 2, making it easy for him to find a place for dungeons and raids. Due to his enormous self-healing abilities, solo questing is also very relaxed. Perhaps a bit too relaxed. The damage potential of the Cleric is as low as that of no other class.
As good as the Cleric fulfills his role in group play, he currently suffers in the Korean version because the loot for some contents is distributed based on the damage dealt.
Those who do not deal enough damage receive no reward at the end. In the meantime, the developers have apparently made a change to partially account for the healing generated, but players continue to report that as a Cleric, you cannot reach the necessary numbers to qualify for loot. How this will look in the global version is currently unclear.
The Wizard
- Official description: A harbinger of doom who engulfs everything with a storm of arcane power.
- Role: Magical Offensive Ranged Fighter
- Suitability for beginners: Medium
Here you can see gameplay from the Wizard:
The spellcasting Wizards in Aion 2 combine massive burst and area damage spells with strong control effects. If you master this mix, you will probably find the best class to reach the maximum level as quickly as possible or to clear rooms of enemies.
However, you must constantly keep an eye on your mana, and if you get hit, you can quickly find yourself defeated on the ground. The glass cannon label also applies to this class, although your survivability has already been increased through updates.
The Summoner
- Official description: A herald of spirits who dominates the battlefield with elemental power.
- Role: Magical support with a pet
- Suitability for beginners: Medium
Here you can see gameplay from the Summoner:
If you prefer to fight with a pet in Aion 2, you must choose the Summoner. They use floating orbs and summoned spirits in battle and currently have the strongest damage potential after the recent class adjustments. The direct damage comes from the pets, while the Summoner relies on status and damage-over-time effects.
The Summoner is noticeably more robust than the Wizard but has to deal with controlling his pets and keeping track of the various effects. This can overwhelm beginners in chaotic situations. However, those who have internalized the playstyle are likely to have a very good time with this class in Aion 2.
In the Korean version of Aion 2, there is already a ninth class, the Brawler. He focuses on fighting gloves and deals high melee damage. However, it will probably take a while before we can work on this archetype. We will introduce this class in more detail when its global premiere approaches. All important general information about the game can already be found here: Release, Beta, Platforms, Classes, and more in the overview of Aion 2
