The fight between streamers Kilian “Tanzverbot” Heinrich, Kevin “Orangemorange” Bongers, and Theo “Scurrows” Bottländer at the gamescom 2022 even made headlines outside the gaming community. Nevertheless, the participants were soon spotted roaming the fair again.
Here’s the backstory: On the evening of Friday, August 26th, there were scuffles involving several German streamers at gamescom 2022. One of the participants, Tanzverbot, apparently has issues with the casino streams of the others.
Why were they even allowed back at gamescom? Apparently, the participants had a conversation with the gamescom management. Scurrows stated on Twitter that the management approached them.
According to him, “the opposing side” expressed a desire to stay at the fair without stress. For Scurrows, that ended the matter.
Not everyone was thrilled. Some voices in the community suggested that all involved should have been banned from this and the next gamescom (via Twitter).
Update 30.08, 14:34 Uhr: By now, the organizer of gamescom MeinMMO has issued a statement regarding the incidents.
Scurrows clashes with TikTok
This is what happened at TikTok: As announced on social media beforehand, TikTok had its own booth at gamescom this year. Scurrows targeted this booth in a video published on August 27 (via Twitter).
The video shows Scurrows strolling through the fair, then heading towards the TikTok booth and confronting the staff there.
This is what Scurrows wants from TikTok: The streamer is advocating for the former kickboxer and content creator Andrew Tate. He has frequently been criticized for misogynistic comments and was just banned from several social media platforms a few days ago.
Scurrows demanded the unblocking of the controversial internet personality. After being dismissed by the confused booth staff, he began to loudly chant “Free Andrew Tate.”
This is how Scurrows’ action was received: It has been viewed nearly 735,000 times on Twitter. Many people there could not understand why Scurrows feels this way or why people celebrate him. One user noted that even Scurrows’ companions were embarrassed for him (via Twitter).
No entry for Tanzverbot
This is how it went for Tanzverbot: For “the opposing side,” as Scurrows referred to Tanzverbot, the visit to gamescom went anything but smoothly after the confrontation. He reached out to his fans on social media.
The streamer said he had visited the Xperion E-Arena by Saturn “in good spirits,” but he was denied entry there. Tanzverbot could not understand this, as he had not done anything (via Twitter).
Xperion has since issued a statement on Twitter. They stated that there is no bad blood but they simply could not guarantee the safety of Tanzverbot. However, the decision was confirmed by the “impulsive” video posted by Tanzverbot (via Twitter).
There was also a lot of focus on influencers and internet personalities at gamescom 2022. The biggest German Twitch streamer, MontanaBlack, was followed by a huge crowd throughout the fair. The cult surrounding Monte even drew international attention:
