With Digimon Story: Time Strangers, an RPG that could become a good alternative to Pokémon for fans, will be released this year on Steam. In a new video, Bandai Namco presents the most important aspect for many fans.
What kind of game is Digimon Story: Time Stranger? 8 years after Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, a sequel called Time Stranger is being released. It can best be compared to Pokémon. You can collect countless Digimon and battle with them. MeinMMO editor Nikolas Hernes spent countless hours playing and had more fun than with Pokémon.
The new RPG is set to be released in 2025, and Bandai Namco is now showing several aspects of the game in a new video. In addition to the normal world, we finally get to see the Digiworld.

A Digimon presents the game world
What can be seen in the video? In a new YouTube video on the official Digimon channel, a talking Terriermon, a popular Digimon, shows new content for the game. However, you have to skip ahead; Time Stranger is first revealed around 10:30.
First, the normal world is shown, which looks like Tokyo and is explored with your own character. There isn’t much action here yet, but there are various NPCs wandering the streets. It seems that the city can only be explored in areas as in the predecessor, with individual areas of the city separated by loading times.

Shortly after, the Digiworld is finally shown as well. In a city that seems to be built from broken parts, you can see Digimon working and living. It also seems that you can explore the city vertically, which is likewise divided into individual areas. At the end, you also see a bar that is full of various Digimon.
Finally, individual attack animations are presented, which look better than in the predecessor, and the digitation of a Gomamon into an Ikkakumon.

The perspective of the Terriermon Vtuber was absolutely enchanting. I will definitely keep an eye on this game. Hopefully, there will be more visual variety than in Cyber Sleuth.

However, there is also criticism. A user (via Reddit) criticizes the framerate and the animations that the game has in the trailer. Other users hope that this time there will be more battles and more variation in the environment.
