The developers of a new action RPG on Steam are already overhauling the entire campaign of their game two weeks after release to offer their masochistic fans a greater challenge.
Which game are we talking about? That would be Hell Clock, a new action RPG from the Brazilian developer studio Rogue Snail. The game was released on July 22, 2025 on Steam, where it receives “very positive” feedback with around 1,700 reviews – 82% recommend the game (as of August 8, 11:35 AM).
In Hell Clock, you play as a warrior named Pajeú. He fights to save the soul of your mentor, who was the spiritual leader of Canudos – a location that was the scene of a massacre. The story is based on the War of Canudos, which took place in the 19th century in Brazil.
On your journey, you face the undead hordes of your tormentors, as with each descent time bends and your powers grow – as do those of your adversaries.

New Endgame and Changes to the Campaign
What is the deal with the revised campaign? This is how the developers are responding to some of the most frequent requests from fans.
- The campaign now has two difficulty levels: “Regular” is meant to provide the best introduction to the game, while existing save files run under the difficulty level “Veteran,” the developers explain in a post on Steam
- Additionally, there are two new World Tiers for the endgame: “Abyss” and “Oblivion.” The latter is meant to demand everything from players and their characters.
“While we expect that the overwhelming majority of players will manage Abyss, Oblivion is meant to challenge your builds and push your characters to their limits,” the developers state.
On Steam, Hell Clock is priced at €19.50. There is no demo, but you can use the refund policy on Steam within the first two hours if you buy it and don’t like it.
