Patch 12.1.5 of World of Warcraft is full of bugs. No, this does not only refer to the bug-like Aqir, but also to some pretty devastating gameplay errors that ruin crucial content.
Although it is not Wednesday, I still need to complain a bit today. It just needs to come out. Because what Blizzard has done with the new Patch 12.1.5 of World of Warcraft is simply embarrassing. I have already talked about the stupid story development, but today we are talking about the core feature of the patch. Because that is buggy and robs many players of their time and joy.
The big feature that is full of bugs
The Labyrinth of Kindo’jan is the flagship feature. It is prominently advertised in the adventure guide and is essentially a mega-delve divided into 9 sections and a major final boss. Those who want can leave the labyrinth early and disappear with the rewards they have earned up to that point.
However, the real temptation is, of course, to complete all 9 chambers to end up in a treasure chamber filled with chests and treasures.
For this, one gladly spends one to two hours in the labyrinth, fighting through countless enemies and eagerly anticipating the upcoming reward.
But there are bugs in the labyrinth. I am not talking about errors that are just a bit annoying, but really devastating errors. Bugs that ensure that in the end you get no reward at all and have simply wasted all that time.
Important quest NPCs steer into walls. Some bosses do not spawn. Other bosses are defeated, but they are not counted, so you cannot continue.
I was lucky on my first run, managed to defeat Kindo’jan, and bagged the special title.
2 hours of gameplay – got absolutely nothing for it
However, in my guild, reports from fellow players piled up, stating that they could not continue because it simply wouldn’t go on. Only on a second character did I encounter this problem as well, multiple times in a row.
An initial hotfix allegedly already fixed these errors, but from my own experience I can say: No, the bugs still exist or there are even new ones.
Most importantly, the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan is simply not what they announced. In the presentation, it was said that you do not have to complete the labyrinth in one go, but can split it up and return later – but that is not the case.
Either you complete the labyrinth in one go or only partially, but afterwards it is reset. Making a “pause” and coming back later is simply not possible.
Don’t get me wrong: The labyrinth is cool and has great ideas. In my bug-free run, I had a lot of fun. But as soon as an error occurs, the whole gaming experience collapses. Depending on pace and skill, you might have played one or two hours by then and end up with nothing.
You make that mistake once. Maybe a second time. But no one is going to enter the labyrinth a third time if there is a chance that all that time will end up with nothing as a reward.
Patch 12.1.5 proves once again that Blizzard is incapable of ensuring the rapid succession of more and more patches. The quality suffers massively as a result. Central features do not work properly. I do not want to hear Blizzard apologize again, claiming that such a thing will not happen again in the future. I want to see consequences. The 8-week cycle does not work. Make it 12 weeks instead. Take your time again.
In the past, Blizzard had the motto “It is done, when it’s done” – “It is finished when it is done”. Feel free to remember that again.
Yes, the community is thirsty for more content. But I am so bold as to believe I speak for most players when I say: We prefer new content that we wait a little longer for, and that actually works, over features that waste our time for hours, only to say at the end, “Oops, it was all for nothing” due to a bug. Please, Blizzard. Many are already annoyed by so much content, so it would be nice if at least that content is mostly bug-free.
