Find and perfect the right build
In Elden Ring, there are many types of builds you can specialize in. From powerful mages, status effects, to solid melee builds, there is a wide selection that can define your hero. It is important to find the build that suits you and to perfect it. Only then can you ensure that you deal and withstand the highest possible damage.
Things like the balance of your fighter or the defense bonus on your shield are often neglected, but they can determine life and death if you pay attention to them or ignore them.
So take the time during the waiting period and build your own build with the weapons, armor, and consumables you like to use.
Level your equipment to its maximum level
The higher the level of your equipment, the more effective it is in combat or use. Therefore, before diving into the shadow world, you should have leveled your weapons like swords, bows, scepters, or seals to their maximum level.
But your flasks of celestial and purple tears should also be leveled to their maximum level, as otherwise, they will regenerate less HP and FP.
Collect all recipe books
Recipe books are important in Elden Ring because they allow you to craft useful things with your toolkit. Once you have found them all, a wide range of recipes will be available to you, allowing you to craft consumables, bombs, aromas, arrows, and throwing knives.
This is useful as bosses, enemies, and areas differ, and you need to rethink your tactics and approach depending on the danger. With a large recipe catalog, you’ll be able to craft the items you need most urgently at any time.

Find all sound pearls
Sound pearls are key items that you can turn in at the Roundtable at the Twin Maiden Husks. They unlock additional purchase options such as smithing stones, lilies for your spirits, or materials needed for crafting items.
It is important that you have found and submitted them all in your current save file so you can easily buy necessary materials for upgrades or crafting instead of needing to farm them.
Track down all Crystal Tears
Crystal tears are important key items in Elden Ring that you can put in your flask of wondrous physick. Depending on the tear you combine, you can briefly benefit from strong effects after consumption.
Not all will suit your build, but it is worth completing the collection in case you want to re-mix the potion for a boss or an area.
You will find new tears in large basins under lower earth trees. The trees are marked on the map with a tree symbol and cannot be missed.
Stock up on larval tears
Larval tears are an important item for rebirth. With rebirth, you can reassign your attributes with Rennala to build a new build. Even the head behind Elden Ring has talked about the difficulty of the DLC.
So it may be that you need to build a new build depending on the boss or area to succeed. Therefore, it is important to have enough larval tears in stock already.
Collect all Great Runes
In Elden Ring, you can equip your hero with one of six Great Runes that can bless you. Depending on the equipped rune, you get bonuses when you also activate a Rune Arc.
These blessings can increase your HP, grant you additional attribute points, or heal HP if you have lost it recently. The runes are not a must, but they can give you a strong advantage and further complement your build. To collect all great runes, you must defeat the following bosses:

- Mohg, Lord of Blood
- Malenia, Blade of Miquella
- Morgott, King of the Omens
- Starscourge Radahn
Level up the best spirit ashes
If you like wandering through Elden Ring solo, you are likely using spirit ashes for bosses. There are many specimens, but only a few are actually strong. If you really want to rely on spirit ashes in combat, you should level them up to their maximum level. The stronger they are, the more efficiently they fight in battles. The strong spirit ashes include the following specimens:
- Imitator Tear Ash
- Ash of Tiche the Black Blade
- Ash of Lhutel the Headless
- Puppet of the Dung Eater
Defeat Mohg
Mohg is an important boss to reach the upcoming DLC. He is located in the Mohgwyn Palace beneath the Lands Between and guards the husk of Miquella. As already announced, this husk will represent the entrance to the DLC. It is therefore crucial to defeat him in order to interact with the overgrown dried arm.
However, Mohg is not an easy boss and his bloody attacks also take their toll on the most experienced player. So be prepared for a tough fight.
