3. Pokémon GO
- Platforms: Mobile
The release of Pokémon GO in the summer of 2016 was an event that many will probably never forget. It felt like everyone played it and was out and about. Unique dynamics developed within various groups and for many trainers, the wish to catch Pokémon in real life was realized, at least on a mobile level.
The game is easy to understand but so engaging that even almost 10 years later, a large community exists. From a game design aspect, the game is strong: it’s easy to understand, free, and anyone, regardless of age, can connect with the cute and iconic designs.
Pokémon GO probably deserves to be in 1st place. We have chosen the following spots for 2 games with deeper mechanics. However, you could also switch them all around.
