In The Wire, it is about crime in the American city of Baltimore. But it is not a classic crime series where a detective pursues the bad guys. Instead, the series shows the different perspectives. Each season focuses on a different emphasis: drug scene and police, unions and smuggling, politics, the school system, media. All different systems that can destroy people.
The series is rather sober, almost documentary. There are many characters who create a complex web of relationships and dependencies across the seasons. The Wire manages to show the connection between various social problems without selling the audience short.
Which episode are we talking about? In the penultimate episode of Season 3 “Time After Time” (Season 3, Episode 11), two major narrative strands converge dramatically. Three seasons full of intrigue, murder, and conspiracies culminate in a dramatic climax where no character is safe.
