Who should consider it? If you are looking for a new theme park MMORPG like WoW or FFXIV, you should stay away from Black Desert. The game places a lot of value on you finding your own content.
However, if you want to dive deep into a world full of economy, trade, and PvP, you should definitely check out Black Desert.
What does it cost in the sale? Black Desert is currently 50% off on Steam. You can get it for €4.99 instead of €9.99. The more expensive packages have been reduced by 30%.
However, there are often promotions where Black Desert is available for free. So, if you are not urgently looking for a new MMORPG, you could wait for such a moment.
ARK: Survival Evolved

What kind of game is this? The survival MMO ARK: Survival Evolved is about creatures from prehistoric times. During your adventures, you will encounter various beings and huge dinosaurs.
While there is plenty of food and water available, carnivores like the T-Rex will make short work of you. So surviving in ARK is not easy.
ARK offers you many highlights, including:
- taming huge dinosaurs
- building your own shelters
- beautiful and detailed biomes
- incredibly difficult missions in the Genesis expansion
The first part of the Genesis DLC was released in February. It introduced many new creatures. In August 2020, at peak times, up to 74,000 players were online simultaneously. This makes it one of the MMOs with the most players on Steam.
Who should consider it? If you are a fan of dinosaurs and movies like Jurassic Park, you should definitely give ARK a chance. However, you need to have a passion for survival games and a certain level of frustration tolerance.
What does it cost in the sale? ARK: Survival Evolved is currently available for €10.99 instead of €54.99 on Steam. However, this “80% discount” is often available, and at hardly any vendor do you have to still pay the original €54.99.
Project Gorgon

What kind of game is this? Project Gorgon is an indie MMORPG that aims to take you back to the days of EverQuest 1. There are no predefined classes, and the combat system relies on classic tab-targeting.
In the game, you can expect:
- various PvE content such as quests and boss monsters
- housing
- open trading with your own market stall
- NPCs that are supposed to recognize you and that you can make friends or foes
- no PvP content. There is currently none
Although the player base in Project Gorgon is relatively small, they are loyal and enthusiastic about the game. The numbers have remained very stable since August 2018. It also has 87% positive ratings, making it one of the highest-rated MMORPGs on Steam.
Who should consider it? If you want to experience an old-school MMORPG and reminisce about the “good old days”, you should take a closer look at Project Gorgon.
However, this game is in Early Access. Bugs and missing content are to be expected. Additionally, the graphics may seem rather outdated.
What does it cost in the sale? Project Gorgon is currently 25% off on Steam. You can get it for €25.49 instead of €33.99. If you want to get a feel for the MMORPG, you can download a free, albeit limited demo.
Conan Exiles

In September, Conan Exiles received its latest expansion, which brought a huge area. Generally, Conan Exiles is considered one of the best survival games on the market.
Who should consider it? Conan Exiles is primarily aimed at adult players who like it tough and are not afraid of a steep learning curve. Fans of Conan the Barbarian will also find plenty to enjoy here.
Conan Exiles is not easy and is one of the most challenging survival games on the market. The realistic and brutal world is open to explorers and fighters alike. Even role-players will find groups to play with on private servers.
