On PC, the game was also not very accessible. On the console, that has changed, as the developer has significantly revised the PS4 version compared to the PC version. There is a quest line that acts like a tutorial and introduces you to the world. This definitely makes the game start more pleasant.
What is less successful: The graphics appear outdated compared to modern titles. Some gameplay mechanics, such as the repetitive crafting, also seem outdated and can be annoying in the long run – especially when you have to perform them over and over again.

Also gameplay-wise, the game is immensely motivating. In addition to dozens of tasks, you build your own kingdom. Additionally, there is a nice strategy mode: Here, you engage in battles with small armies. Unlike its predecessor, Ni No Kuni 2 focuses on an action-oriented combat system rather than a turn-based system.
You don’t need to know the predecessor to play, although some places might feel familiar, like Cat Kingdom.
What is less successful: For those of you who enjoy role-playing games, Ni No Kuni 2 will generally feel too easy. Although the difficulty increases over the course of the game, it never becomes challenging. You also never feel rushed while building your kingdom. It is also unfortunate that some side quests cannot maintain the quality of the rest of the game: Here you are asked to complete simple fetch quests. Additionally, the characters aside from the main characters lack depth.
Who is Ni No Kuni 2 suitable for? Anyone who enjoyed the predecessor will likely also be happy with part 2, even if certain aspects have changed compared to the original. RPG fans will be fully satisfied as well. And even if you’re not a JRPG fan, Ni No Kuni 2 might still appeal to you.
