In Valorant, there was recently a patch that changed the game balance. Among other things, there were nerfs for two agents, map changes, and technical improvements. You can find the highlights of the update along with the patch notes here.
What’s in the first patch? The long-awaited patch for the nerf of Raze is finally here. As hinted by the developers, the controversial heroine Raze has now been slightly weakened. However, the popular healer Sage has also received a nerf.
The German patch notes for the Valorant update
How was Raze nerfed? The agent Raze, introduced in the beta of Valorant, is a colorful demolitionist who farms a lot of kills with grenades and rockets. Especially against newcomers, she is very powerful and regularly ruins the fun for some players.
Her ultimate, the killer rocket, was not touched in the patch, but the equally despised grenades of the agent were:
- Raze now only carries one grenade, it used to be 2.
- The grenade can be recharged if you achieve 2 kills in the match after throwing it.
- The cluster bombs from the grenade now explode less quickly after they appear.
- Overall, Raze’s ability sounds have been improved, so you notice earlier what she is planning.
How was Sage changed? The popular healer Sage has also received a bit of a nerf:
- Her ice barrier can now be dismantled twice as fast in close combat. This is important according to the developers, because otherwise one can hardly get through rounds without good equipment.
- The slow zone now also works in the air, bunny hopping therefore does not provide any advantages here anymore. Additionally, you are quiet when you pass through the zone. Hearing enemies that are trapped in the zone becomes significantly harder.
What else was fixed: In addition to the major changes to the heroines, there were also a number of smaller fixes:
- The knife is also twice as effective against metal doors.
- The ultimate orb on the map Split is now at B Main instead of B Mid.
- The camera of Cypher can no longer use weapons.
- Diverse exploits on the maps have been fixed.
- A bug that sometimes did not display the sounds on the map was fixed.
- Diverse network and connection errors have been fixed.
What was not fixed? A bug with the new prism skin for sniper rifles is still in the game. The skin allows you to see not only the events in the crosshairs but also everything around you when aiming through the scope.
This is an advantage over the regular scope view, which hides everything that is not in the scope. However, this issue continues to persist and is said to be according to the developers on reddit fixed later.
With the patch, Riot is responding more to fan feedback. This is an exception to the recently published statement that the developers of Valorant do not want to nerf quickly, but rather would like the players to try to solve the problems themselves first.
