What will the movies be about? The Sailor Moon Cosmos
movies continue the legendary story that began with the rebooted series Sailor Moon Crystal
(a total of 3 seasons) and evolved with films. The story closely follows the original plot of the manga by Naoko Takeuchi and offers fans a deep narrative of the adventures of the Sailor Warriors.
Sailor Moon Cosmos
specifically adapts the final battle of the Shadow Galactica
storyline from the original manga. The films are a direct continuation of the two-parter Sailor Moon Eternal
released in 2021.
Sailor Moon Cosmos
brings back beloved characters, but also introduces new ones like Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon, who has only been known to manga readers so far. With the two films, the long-running story will be told in full – perhaps this is really their last adventure?
What else is known? Directed by Tomoya Takahashi, known for his work on the Marvel anime. The scripts are by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu and character design has been taken over by Kazuko Tadano, who has previously worked on the designs of the Sailor Moon adaptations.
