As GameStop and other retailers have announced, you will soon be able to pre-order the PS5 again or “reserve” a console. However, you probably won’t have it in your hands on release day.
What has been announced? As GameStop revealed in a press release, they plan to offer “reservations” for the PS5 starting November 19. However, this date is also the release day of the console.
The press release already indicates that you will not receive the console directly with the reservation. Instead, it mentions the “following weeks”:
PS5 fans, pay attention! We are mega happy to announce today that starting November 19, you can reserve more highly sought-after PlayStation 5 on www.gamestop.de. You will have it in your hands in the following weeks.

Other retailers are taking a similar approach. As the retailer Medimax revealed, they will start taking new online orders for the PS5 on November 19.
However, there will be no consoles available in stores at launch. Even Sony itself has confirmed that the PS5 will not be available in stores at launch.
No third wave for PS5
Can you still pre-order the PS5? Currently, there is no way to pre-order the PS5 anymore. On the contrary, emails from Saturn, MediaMarkt, or even Amazon repeatedly indicate that the delivery of new consoles might be delayed. It seems to make no difference when you placed your order.
A third wave of pre-orders before November 19 is therefore virtually impossible.
Anyone who still wants to get a PlayStation 5 will probably have to wait until after the release.
However, it is not only Sony that is struggling with pre-orders. The situation for the Xbox Series X is not any better. While the smaller console, the Series S, is still available in some offers, the larger console is also sold out everywhere.
If you haven’t been able to pre-order a console yet and may still be undecided, we would like to help you make the decision:
