The new consoles Xbox Series X and S were briefly available and are already sold out everywhere. Unless you resort to outrageous offers from third-party sellers on Amazon, who sometimes charge triple the price or more.
What is the situation? The new Microsoft consoles Xbox Series X and the smaller S version finally hit the market on November 10, 2020. However, due to the high demand, the devices were quickly sold out. Particularly unpleasant were delivery issues with online giant Amazon, who sent hundreds of Xbox fans a letter instead of a console, regrettably informing them of the delivery delay by several weeks. You can find this situation and other reactions to the launch here:
However, those searching for the Xbox Series S or X on the US Amazon site will still find consoles, albeit at absurd moon prices.
$1,300 for a console? That’s how much the new Xbox is being sold for
What is currently being asked on Amazon? Besides the official Amazon offer, third-party sellers can also offer goods there. Therefore, some lucky owners of a new Xbox console are selling it as “collectibles” on Amazon. And at hefty prices, straight from the moon:
- The “cheapest” Series X you can get for $985. Almost double the price of the retail version
- The next offer already costs $1,297
- The usual price is $1,399
- The most expensive offer is going for $1,590. That’s more than triple the regular price!
What about the Series S? The little sister of the Series X is not doing any better. Absurd prices are also being demanded here. They range from $629 to completely outlandish “offers” over $1,423. Since the little Series S normally only costs $299, that would be almost five times the price!
By the way, similar situations have already occurred with the new PlayStation 5, which hasn’t even been released yet:
In the face of such outrageous offers, one can only hope that no one takes advantage of this opportunity and instead waits until Microsoft supplies new devices to meet the demand.
