With the original version of Wrath of the Lich King, WoW got the Dungeon Finder, which is still hotly debated today. At the launch of WOTLK Classic, it was said that it would be omitted. However, Blizzard has now changed its mind – at the urging of the players themselves.
What is this feature? The Dungeon Finder allows you to find a group for an instance at the push of a button and teleport directly to its entrance. This is more of a standard in MMORPGs today rather than an exception.
The feature was introduced towards the end of Wrath of the Lich King and is considered by some to be the innovation that destroyed the “feel of old WoW.” Everything became more anti-social and frantic, and the bond between players was lost.
That is exactly why Blizzard announced that it would forgo the Dungeon Finder in the Classic version.
What is new now? In a “Community Council Live Chat,” the developers shared some new information regarding WoW Classic. This includes that they are working on a Random Dungeon Finder and a Default Quest Helper. Both are set to be introduced in WOTLK Classic.

Why is Blizzard changing its mind? Even before the release of the new expansion, there were some voices calling for the Dungeon Finder. They justified it by saying that the previous LFG tool was terrible.
The adapted version that was released at the launch of WOTLK Classic is more like a bulletin board and is not well received overall. There are reports of a complete group being present on the bulletin board but existing in three separate search requests.
In recent weeks, more and more voices have been raised calling for the return of the Dungeon Finder, especially now that player numbers are not as strong as they were at the launch in 2022. Dozens of threads can be found in the forum.
When will the Dungeon Finder come? Soon. There is no more precise statement yet. However, the tool is supposed to be extensively tested on the PTR before it comes to the live servers. The same applies to the quest tracking that also appeared with patch 3.3 in the original Wrath of the Lich King.
Both innovations are expected to come with the next raid Icecrown Citadel.
