In The War Within, you will need to relearn a lot for your profession in World of Warcraft. You need new knowledge to regain the old skills.
With “The War Within,” World of Warcraft aims to open a new chapter. There are many innovations, such as the Depths or Hero Talents. However, some systems are retained, such as the profession system from Dragonflight, along with the profession knowledge. However, those who think they can carry over their expertise from the current expansion are mistaken. Your professions start “from scratch.”
What has been discovered? From the Alpha of The War Within, we know that Blizzard is sticking with the profession knowledge system with multiple specializations. However, you cannot transfer your knowledge from Dragonflight; you must acquire new profession knowledge. This then unlocks – just as it does now – the various specializations and associated benefits to craft really powerful equipment, gems, potions, or other crafting items.
What you learned in Dragonflight for your professions will consequently have no impact on your crafting abilities in “The War Within”.
This is consistent with the past, since every expansion has its own profession progress, but some thought that the acquired profession knowledge would be permanent.
What happens to excess profession knowledge? Most characters will have long since maxed out their professions and accumulated plenty of “excess” profession knowledge. Some had hoped that this excess profession knowledge would be useful in The War Within – but that is not the case. The excess knowledge has no effect on the professions; you start from scratch – like everyone else.
Do you think it is good that you have to build up profession knowledge from scratch for the new recipes? Or would you have preferred that all the work from Dragonflight provides an advantage?
WoW might also come to Xbox soon, as developers say “the dream lives on.”
