World of Warcraft as a series in “Netflix” style? Could that work? A trailer at least invites dreaming …
Wouldn’t it be great if the story of World of Warcraft was told in a television series? Many players have already wondered that.
But some also let their creativity run wild and create their own trailer for their idea. An example of this is the YouTuber Str1der, whose trailer adaptation you can see above. It is a compilation of various cutscenes, set to “typical” trailer music.
Even if the reactions to the actual video are quite mixed, there are many ideas on YouTube and Reddit about how such a WoW series could work. “Good examples” for a basis include the events from Classic in Stormwind. The schemes of Lady Katrana Prestor, alias Onyxia, would be a solid setting for a series in “Game of Thrones” style.
Other fans still hope that the story of Arthas and his transformation into the Lich King will be adapted. He still remains one of the most popular characters in the lore of World of Warcraft, even though he has been dead for over a decade now.
Cortyn says: I always find it amazing how little work it actually takes to create a solid trailer from some WoW cinematics that makes you dream immediately. Just a little music on top, and you can really visualize what such a series could look like. Of course, it’s not very likely that we’ll see something like that in the next ten years – but hey, one is still allowed to dream, right?
Would you want a “Netflix series” about World of Warcraft? Would that perhaps have been an even better idea than a movie? Or should WoW remain in the medium of video games and stay away from television screens?
