After years of playing WoW Classic, a player finally arrives at the modern World of Warcraft – and is warmly welcomed by the community.
Fans of World of Warcraft have a great nemesis – namely other fans of World of Warcraft who play the “wrong” version. Especially defenders of Classic-WoW often make fun of “Retail,” which is the current version of The War Within. However, now and then someone is converted – and then happily accepted by the community.
The situation would only worsen with a WoW 2.0, but how does it actually stand?:
What has happened? In the WoW subreddit, the player 1ne_mind posts and confesses to having constantly railed against Retail – only to now realize how wrong he was.
I was a Classic enjoyer for 5 years. Originally, I stopped playing Retail with The Burning Crusade for reasons. Occasionally looking at Retail, I scoffed at it.
In short, I then decided to just try Retail and now I get it. Damn it, I get it.
The initial shock of the multitude of new things thrown at you is a bit disorienting, and I believe I haven’t fully grasped everything yet, but that’s not a big deal. It’s so much more forgiving regarding your time, there’s so much more customization, so many little things, more of everything, while still retaining the WoW feel.
I understand why people love Classic; chasing that nostalgia dragon is a hell of a trip. But at a certain point, when you keep repeating the same things, it gets a bit monotonous.
I don’t understand why there has to be this war
The community reacts extremely positively: The post received over 2,000 upvotes, and generally, 1ne_mind is showered with a lot of positivity. Many congratulate him on overcoming the fundamental “anti-attitude” and being able to enjoy both games:

Do you have a Classic advocate in your friend circle who constantly complains about Retail but has never really given it a fair chance?
