World of Warcraft has revealed the login screen for The War Within. We show you where you will be staring during server issues in the coming years.
With a new expansion in World of Warcraft, a lot changes. There are many adjustments to the classes, but also a lot of new features. One detail that changes with every addon is the game’s login screen. It is meant to capture the mood of the game and also reflect the theme of the respective expansion.
The login screen for The War Within has appeared in the latest beta build.
The current trailer for WoW The War Within:
This is what the login screen looks like: The login screen for The War Within is quite different from the screens of other expansions, as it is relatively simple.
It features a large black sphere, which presumably symbolizes Azeroth. It is surrounded by a titanic ring, and many cracks cover the entire sphere. Yellow light pulses from the cracks, as if fire or magma is about to erupt from the sphere.
Why is the login screen important? Although the login screen is such a small element of the game that usually has minimal to no significance, it is always discussed with each expansion.
You spend a lot of time on the login screen, especially when something is not going smoothly in World of Warcraft – like at the launch of a new expansion when the servers are overloaded, or when you are stuck in a queue while all your friends on Discord rave about how great everything is.
That the login screen is so simple this time is quite unusual. It also does not show a direct scene from the game – as all the previous ones have done – but rather the planet Azeroth breaking apart in several places. This is a similar animation that you see in the numerous trailers for The War Within just before the World of Warcraft logo appears.
Some fans speculate that this login screen will evolve and change slowly throughout the patches and the world soul saga. Maybe Blizzard will also add a character – in Dragonflight, Alexstrasza was also added to the background quite late.
Keep in mind that this is the first draft. It is quite possible that this changes during the beta.
