The Burning Legion is getting serious in World of Warcraft Patch 7.2. Demons are raining down all over the Broken Isles!
Although Patch 7.2 “Tomb of Sargeras” is still a long way off, Blizzard is already actively promoting the upcoming content. The official website has now provided a first look at the new demon invasions that will come to the game with the (presumed) summer update.
According to their own statements, the developers have learned a lot from the World Quest system and the Pre-Event to Legion in the first months since the launch of Legion to make the “new” invasions even better.
Similar to “back then”, the Legion will attack in several places within a zone, each marked by its own world quest. This ranges from elite bosses to corrupted areas that need to be cleansed to a massive sprite invasion.
This time, the progress of an invasion is not linked to the zone, but is unique to each character. Those who do not join the fight against the Legion will not get rid of the invasion anytime soon. Hoping that other players will do the job is in vain.
The finale of each invasion is a large-scale attack on a particularly important stronghold – such as Thunder Totem in Highmountain or the Ravencrest in Val’Sharah. If that’s not enough, players can take the battle to a scenario for 3 players up to a Legion spaceship and give the respective commander a piece of their mind… with corresponding rewards, of course.
The developers also considered it important that players who are currently questing in a zone to complete the story and reach level 110 are not disturbed. Therefore, the demon invasions are linked to the world quest system. Complete newcomers cannot participate.
However, players who are at the leveling stage on an alt character (and have unlocked world quests with the main character) can use the invasions as an additional source of experience points. However, it should mostly be possible to avoid the invasions if they have not yet reached level 110.
