In World of Warcraft Dragonflight, the legendary axe “Fyr’alath the Dreamrender” dropped for the first time a few days ago, specifically for the professional guild Echo, which won the World First race.
Now the first server maintenance after the end of the race was scheduled, and consequently the weapon is “unlocked” for all other difficulties. Death Knights, Paladins, and Warriors can therefore hope to loot Fyr’alath from Fyrakk.
However, to prevent you from waiting forever for this weapon, there are “Bad Luck Protections” – mechanisms that ensure that the longer you wait, the more likely it becomes that you will receive the weapon. We will tell you how it works.
How can Fyr’alath drop? It depends on what difficulty you are playing on:
- LFR, Normal, and Heroic: Fyr’alath drops as “Personal Loot” – you do not have to roll for it.
- Mythic: Fyr’alath can additionally drop as group loot, which can then be rolled for or otherwise assigned by the raid.
In addition, your chance is higher the harder the raid difficulty. If you visit the Amirdrassil raid on “Normal”, the weapon has a higher drop chance than in LFR. On “Heroic”, your chance is again higher than on “Normal” – and your highest chance is on “Mythic”.
At the same time, the higher difficulties accumulate your loot chances. So if you visit the raid on “Heroic” and kill Fyrakk there, it already includes your loot chance from “Normal” and “LFR”.
Therefore, it doesn’t make sense to visit the raid multiple times on different difficulties per week. Only complete the highest difficulty you can handle, and you have done the maximum.
How does the Bad Luck Protection work? In the past, the “Bad Luck Protection” increased over the weeks if you defeated end bosses repeatedly. For Fyr’alath, it’s a little different, as you can receive items that increase your drop chance in the future:
If you defeat Fyrakk (regardless of the difficulty), he drops a “Greater Ember of Fyr’alath” – when used, “you attune further to the hymn of Fyr’alath.” This means that your chance of Fyr’alath dropping for you can increase in the future.
Additionally, all bosses on Heroic and Mythic difficulty in Amirdrassil have a chance to drop a “Lesser Ember of Fyrakk.” This also increases your drop chance for the future, but to a lesser extent.
Using the ember, whether small or large, continuously increases your drop chance for Fyr’alath. With each week in which you find and use ember, the chance becomes greater and greater.
For whom can Fyr’alath drop? The legendary axe can drop for Death Knights, Paladins, and Warriors, regardless of which loot specialization you currently have active. You can also receive the axe if you are currently playing as a Protection Warrior who usually does not use two-handed weapons. Therefore, you do not have to change your loot specialization before the boss – you just have to belong to one of the three classes and have a chance for the weapon.
What does that mean overall? In summary, it can be said:
- Defeat Fyrakk each week at your highest possible difficulty to have the maximum drop chance.
- If possible, defeat raid bosses in Amirdrassil on “heroic” and “mythic” to further increase your drop chance for the coming weeks.
