The pre-event for Dragonflight in World of Warcraft has been tested. We reveal what rewards are waiting.
A few days ago, the pre-event of Dragonflight was tested on the PTR, which will soon also be playable in the live version of World of Warcraft. Many testers took a close look at the event and the colleagues from wowhead have already figured out all the rewards.
The short version is: Elemental attacks are occurring all over the world that must be stopped.
What is this pre-event about? During the pre-event, there are regular elemental attacks in four different areas. These are relatively simple in their structure and are clearly marked on the world map. There are a total of 4 locations with linked elemental attacks:
- Northshire: Earth
- Tirisfal: Fire
- Un’goro Crater: Storm
- Desolace: Water
While the event is active, various Primalists spawn in the areas. At regular intervals, a small boss appears, who enhances all Primalists with the corresponding element upon its arrival. As long as the mobs are enhanced, they drop “Primeval Essence.” This essence is the event currency, which you can use to buy various rewards from the vendor.
The boss is initially untargetable, protected by an elemental shield. The shield breaks once a total of 100 Primalists in the area have been killed. The boss then drops a larger amount of essence and sometimes a piece of gear.
On the PTR, the bosses spawned approximately every 30 minutes.
What rewards are there? The primary reward is the gear sets that you can obtain during the event. They are perfect for gearing up twinks and secondary characters for Dragonflight.
However, the sets are also visually striking, especially the plate set is a classic “knight’s armor.” You can see the sets here in pictures from wowhead:
Those who miss the sets need not worry – visually, these are the normal “quest sets” from Dragonflight, just in a different color scheme.
Is there more than gear? For those who find gear that loses its value days later not enticing, they can also grab the secondary rewards of the event.
For collectors, there is a new toy, the “Bag of Furious Winds”. The toy opens a bag that draws all small pets in the vicinity to you for ten seconds in a vacuum cleaner-like manner. With a cooldown of 30 minutes, the toy is quite rare in use. You can buy it for 100 Primeval Essence from the event vendor (Stormwind Harbor or Durotar Harbor).
For those who want something “forever,” they should secure the achievement – this is a special achievement that is only available during the pre-event. To earn the “Against the Elements” achievement, you only need to defeat a Primalist boss in all four areas. That should be quite quick to accomplish.
Finally, there is a new heirloom trinket that you need to assemble. All elemental bosses can drop a component, of which you ultimately need all 4 variants. You can then combine these into a new trinket that not only provides primary stats but also has a chance to deal elemental damage and boost allies in the vicinity.
When does the event run? The exact duration of the event is not yet clear. Typically, pre-events run 2-4 weeks before the release of a new expansion. Therefore, it is possible that the event will already start next week on October 26. However, there is no fixed date yet.
