The Dragon Cave Under Ahn’Qiraj
Another mysterious location lies on the continent of Kalimdor and has been there since Classic. If you go into the water at the west coast of Feralas and swim down the continent to the south, you first pass by Silithus. Later, you swim around the area “Ahn’Qiraj: The Fallen Kingdom” and finally reach a small green patch of land.
Here, a cave entrance awaits – and the cave is gigantic! Skeletons and eerie music can be heard in the cave and its vast corridors.
This cave used to be completely empty and useless, but since Cataclysm, the red level-5 dragon Andrestrasz has been slumbering in it. Whether it serves a real purpose is currently unknown. Most players assume it’s merely a tribute to a developer or one of their children (for example, a then-5-year-old son named “Andre”).
Today, the place can be reached in just a few seconds with a flying mount.
By the way: Before the Cataclysm, there was another hidden place next to the cave. There stood a small, cozy Tauren hut with a well and windmill. Back then, it was a perfect place for role-playing – even if you had to swim for nearly half an hour to reach it. A shoutout to priests with levitate…
What was the purpose of this cave? It will always remain a mystery.
