What the streamer has achieved: DesMephisto received all transmog templates for plate armor in his stream a few hours ago. That’s a total of 11,697 unique items he must have collected for it.
How long did it take him? We don’t know how long he actually farmed for it. However, he likely obtained some templates just from leveling a total of 46 Warriors to the maximum level through the leveling process.
For his last template, the Purple Plate Leggings, he needed a total of 110 attempts alone in the past few days. When he finally obtained the template from a mission in the garrison in Draenor, he literally fell off his chair in joy:
Achieving all this while leveling his dozens of Warriors is a real feat. Especially since he is also playing the Alpha of Shadowlands, where he broke his own leveling record in May: In just under 4 hours he reached max level.
What is transmog even useful for? Essentially nothing at all, except for style. With transmogrification, you can change the appearance of armor pieces. Their stats remain the same, they just look different.
Many players use this to wear a particularly cool-looking combo – or even run around almost completely naked, which has also been possible for some time.
There is even a competition, the “Great Style Check”, where players can honor the coolest transmogs in the game, even if there might be a dark conspiracy behind it.
The templates that DesMephisto has collected only apply to plate armor. He has not collected the other types, such as cloth and leather, and since he only plays Warriors so far, that is unlikely to change. With the new expansion, there will likely be new templates for him to acquire. The beta for Shadowlands will start soon.
