The pre-patch for World of Warcraft: The War Within is live. We will tell you what you should accomplish today.
World of Warcraft Dragonflight is dead – long live The War Within! With the pre-patch, many of the major innovations are already active, and there are numerous improvements and adjustments to Blizzard’s MMORPG. To ensure you are perfectly prepared, we have three things for you to take care of today before you dive deeper into the current patch.
Update or remove addons
With a major patch comes numerous changes to World of Warcraft that impact your interface. Many interface addons will no longer function and will produce error messages or make the game unplayable.
Make sure that you have updated all addons to the latest version and that they are compatible with Patch 11.0. You should temporarily disable outdated addons until an update is available.
Alternatively, this is a good time to part ways with some addons. Ask yourself if you really still need some addons and if you have used them at all in the recent past. If not: Get rid of them. Your loading time will thank you.
Unlock Warbands Bank
Update 9:05 AM: The Warbands Bank has been temporarily disabled by Blizzard due to a critical error.
You can use the Warbands Bank at any bank counter in World of Warcraft. It is part of the new Warbands system. You should unlock it as soon as possible and start consolidating all important resources of your account there. Then all characters will have access to it, such as for crafting.
However, note that fully unlocking the bank costs more than 3,000,000 gold. The first slots are considerably cheaper, and everyone should be able to afford them.
Upon logging in, you will also receive a quest that takes you to Gadgetzan. This will grant you a spell that allows you to access your Warbands Bank from anywhere.
Look at talents and build setups
Almost all classes have changed drastically with the pre-patch. Almost always, there are new talents or major changes to the abilities. Therefore, you should go through your various characters and adjust your specialization accordingly.
At least: You can now save up to 40 talent specializations per character instead of the previous 10. This should ensure there is no shortage of space, and you can save the appropriate set of talents for every situation.
If you want to know more about the class changes from Patch 11.0, we have explained all the new features here.
What about the pre-event? The pre-event of The War Within will start in a week, on July 31. Only then will the echoes of past events appear all over Azeroth, and the questline will begin in Dalaran. Until then, you have time to get used to the new talents, level up one or two characters, or farm gold, to fully unlock your Warbands Bank. What will you do first in Patch 11.0?
