Phase 2 of Pre-Patch 10.0 for WoW: Dragonflight is active, allowing you to play the Evokers of the Dracthyr. However, some players are encountering bugs with the new class: they are simply unable to use abilities. The issue lies not with Blizzard, but with the installation and can be easily fixed.
What is the problem? Since November 16, the Dracthyr have been playable, along with numerous other features from Dragonflight – including new zones and dungeons. However, if you play an Evoker, your spells may not work.
The respective icons may be grayed out and cannot be clicked, as if WoW is simply not responding to your inputs. Complaints are coming in from various players, but they can be easily resolved.

This is the solution: The problem is related to addons. Addons affect many things in World of Warcraft, mostly interface functions. As a result, certain addons may block your skills.
If you don’t want to completely give them up, update all your addons, disable each one individually, and check if the error reoccurs. For updating, we recommend the WoWUp addon manager. If you want to be sure, simply disable all addons. The Discord has also found a solution for ElvUI users (via reddit):
- execute the following command: “/console ActionButtonUseKeyDown 1” (without quotes)
- then execute the command “/console empowerTapControls 1” (also without quotes)
- activate the “Key Down” function in ElvUI
- The “press and release” function is currently not working
You can find the best addons for World of Warcraft with us, but an update to Dragonflight is still pending – partly due to the related issues.

The problem has actually been known for years, as a new patch usually means changes to World of Warcraft itself. Therefore, addons often need to be updated.
This usually happens well in advance, as addon authors test their projects on the PTR and adjust them. However, with Dragonflight, there is a complete overhaul of the interface, which is why certain addons simply do not work at all or only work to a limited extent. At least not yet.
Additionally, there are again talents for all classes, which in turn have an impact on certain macros and can also limit the functionality of addons. If you want to use corresponding addons, you may have to wait a while longer for them to be updated – if that is even possible this time.
For the moment, it is definitely safer to refrain from using addons if you do not want to face issues like missing spells. Maybe you will even get used to it and completely clean out your addon folder:
