Since November 16, the new class from WoW Dragonflight is playable: the Evokers of the Dracthyr. The half-dragons have more customization options than any other race in World of Warcraft. Still, players are complaining because this limits other options too much.
What makes Dracthyr so special:
- The Dracthyr are intrinsically linked with the new Evoker class. Every Dracthyr is an Evoker, and every Evoker is a Dracthyr.
- The customization options for Dracthyr are enormous. The developers say, there are “more options than grains of sand in the universe”. Many players have already spent hours creating their Dracthyr.
- But there’s also a downside: Dracthyr usually fight in dragon form, which can only display a few equipped armor pieces. This bothers the players now.

What’s the problem? In the forums and on reddit, threads keep appearing that complain about the customization options for Dracthyr. While many praise how much can already be customized, it is even said in some circles: if other races only had a third of the options, people would be happy.
However, the fact that the dragon form carries no armor or, worse: only certain armor pieces, is absolutely not nice and sometimes doesn’t fit at all. When one puts together a stylish outfit for the humanoid form, the displayed shoulder pieces and belts look like foreign bodies on the Dracthyr.
Additionally, it seems that even NPCs have more options. In Stormwind, for example, there’s a Dracthyr lady sitting around who bought a wide-brimmed hat “to fit in better with the crowd” (via reddit).

“I wish it could be adjusted separately”
The armor worn by Dracthyr can only be customized at creation and at the barber, not through popular transmogrifications. Only the humanoid form wears regular armor, as is the case with all other races. This apparently bothers some players:
Playing a Dracthyr made me realize how important it is to see my equipment in order to enjoy the game. I was 100% sure that I would play a Dracthyr with this expansion. […] I like both specs. But what I noticed and cannot get over is the fact that I can’t even see my weapon in dragon form unless I’ve drawn it.

While it is generally advisable to play in humanoid form whenever possible, as soon as an attack spell is cast, Dracthyr automatically transform into dragons – similar to Worgen.

In many posts, players are therefore demanding that the different forms of Dracthyr can be adjusted separately. This would at least prevent the few visible pieces from absolutely not matching the chosen dragon armor. At the very least, shoulders and belts for dragon form should simply be able to be hidden.
The suggestions are receiving hundreds of upvotes and comments like: “That would literally solve everyone’s complaints. Crazy that Blizz hasn’t done that yet. Nothing more needs to happen.”
The developers have already told us in the interview that almost all new systems from Dragonflight are still being adjusted and improved. This likely includes Dracthyr as well. Many features are reportedly being built for the future:
