Currently, there are various ways to level your Earthen in WoW: The War Within to the new maximum level 80. A Holy Paladin opted for the efficient dungeon grind. However, his biggest enemies were not the wait times or instance bosses …
What challenges did the Paladin player face? Motyo shared the character window of his freshly leveled Earthen at level 80 on Reddit. What stands out immediately: the low item level 16 of the Holy Paladin’s main hand weapon. All other pieces of equipment have item levels ranging from 467 to 554.
In the headline of the post, the player explains that he leveled his Earthen from level 10 to level 80 through dungeons. When the wait times for a dungeon invitation are short and the groups progress smoothly, it’s one of the most efficient methods to level in the current WoW expansion The War Within.
It was just plain bad luck that no upgrade for the Paladin’s starting weapon dropped in any instance: “The little mace has traveled a long way,” Motyo says in his post.
The story of WoW: The War Within is beautifully staged – here’s one of the cutscenes:
No Power to the Auction House
How does the community respond to the post? 4108 upvotes and 358 comments show that a part of the WoW community can relate to Motyo’s experience.
- Accomplished_Emu_658 writes (via Reddit): “That was my problem when leveling fresh twinks during the pre-event. Equipment dropped very rarely and when it did, the pieces were far below the level of the characters. Thus, they became useless, and I had to sit out most events. Luckily, it was short.”
- DarthScrumptySnugs recalls (via Reddit): “That’s unbelievable! And I thought it was funny when my druid reached level 80 without ever getting gloves with an item level of 200 or higher.”
- Cloud_N0ne also had issues (via Reddit): “Yes, my rogue is struggling hard right now. I reached level 70 with an item level in the low 200s, and I couldn’t even do simple world quests. My cloak was still item level 54.”
Other players can’t believe that Motyo ignored the auction house or leveling heirlooms.
- Party-Yak9717 writes (via Reddit): “That’s dedication, not buying a [weapon] from the auction house – lol.”
- Kewmeister wanted to know (via Reddit): “Are you too good for an heirloom weapon?”
Motyo’s simple answer: “I completely forgot about the heirlooms until a friend reminded me at level 78 … at that point, I decided to manage the last bit without them.” Have you had similar experiences when leveling twinks? Share it in the comments!
In the comments, a WoW fan wanted to know how long the dungeon grind took with the healing tin can. Motyo’s response: The current playtime of the character is about 15 hours. From level 10 to 70, you can also get there in about seven to eight hours, without killing a single monster or completing a quest.
