The next patch for World of Warcraft is already on the starting blocks. We reveal what the developers have planned with patch 10.1.7.
Although patch 10.1.5 rips in time has just gone live (with some turbulence), Blizzard has already thrown the next update onto the PTR of World of Warcraft. Patch 10.1.7: Incarnation of Wrath has been introduced and the main content has already been announced. Although this is again just a smaller patch, some players will surely look forward to the innovations.
The most important points at a glance:
- Patch 10.1.7 will be released on September 6, 2023
- Night Elves and Undead will receive their heritage armor
- There will be new world events, the Dream leaps
- The mega-dungeon “Twilight of the Eternal” will be divided into 2 dungeons for the heroic difficulty
- There will be new story quests about Tyr
- Two holidays will be updated: The Brewfest and the Hallow’s End
When will patch 10.1.7 be released? The release date for patch 10.1.7: Incarnation of Wrath is September 6, 2023. In America, the patch will be available, as usual, one day earlier.

Heritage armor for Undead and Night Elves
Finally, two more races are getting their heritage armors. This time, on the side of the Horde, the Undead are up, while on the Alliance side, the Night Elves will receive their heritage armor.
As usual, receiving the armor comes with an exclusive quest line that is only available for the respective race. Although details about the quest line are still missing, it will likely be about the future of both races. After all, the Undead have just installed a new council, while the Night Elves have planted a new World Tree.
A first look at the armor of the Undead is already available:
Twilight of the Eternal on heroic
The mega-dungeon “Twilight of the Eternal” is currently only available on mythic difficulty, which is also quite challenging. In order to allow those who are not happy with the high difficulty to at least take a look at the dungeon, it will be divided into two areas. These will then function as individual heroic dungeons.
However, the dungeon will not yet be implemented into the “Mythic+” system. This will likely happen at the earliest with patch 10.2.
New events: Dream leaps
So far, Blizzard has released very little information on this. However, it is clear that each week one of the four original areas of Dragonflight has a special connection to the Emerald Dream, where “Wake Dream Portals” will emerge, bringing new challenges.
There will also be new rare mobs and special event bosses that can leave high-level equipment.
The roadmap indicates that the patch is set to go live in the “fall,” which technically would only be in October – but that seems a bit late.
New customizations for Night Elves and Undead
In addition to the heritage armors, the visual diversity of the Undead and Night Elves will be increased. There will be new tattoos for the face and body for Night Elves, while Undead can look forward to new skin colors.
Are you looking forward to patch 10.1.7? Or do you still have enough to do in WoW?
