The rarest mounts soon in the trading post of World of Warcraft – that was the concern. But Blizzard clarifies that this will not happen. For now.
A few days ago, a murmur went through the mount fans of World of Warcraft. For their favorite treasures had drastically lost value. But Blizzard quickly responded and clarified: No, everything is fine.
What was the fuss about? A few days ago, the data miners from WoWhead found a new piece of information in the game data. During a hotfix, Blizzard not only introduced the new items of the trading post for February into the game but also suddenly assigned a value in trader currencies to a very old mount.
Usually, this is a sign that an item will eventually come to the trading post.
In the case of the “Warlords of Draenor” mount, the value was set at 7,899 trader currencies, which was so absurdly high that some assumed it was a mistake – and that was apparently the case.
What does Blizzard say? In response to the rumors that “Ahead of its Time” rewards could soon land in the trading post, Blizzard spoke out in the official forum. Community Manager Kaivax stated:
We would like to dispel a certain rumor. At this time, we do not plan for mounts or other prestige rewards from performance-based achievements, such as the “Top of the Line” or “Ahead of its Time”, to be available in the trading post.

What does the community think? In the WoW community, opinions on this matter are divided. Some believe that such prestige rewards from the past should remain exclusive – and that forever. Those who were not there should not be able to obtain them retroactively.
Others argue that this can lead to frustration when there are rewards in games that one can never obtain. Phenomenon from the Community Council writes about this:
I hope that one day we will see the return of these FOMO items. For all players. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing something fantastic in the game and finding out how to obtain it, only to realize at the end: “Oh… that’s something that existed 12 years ago and is now forever hidden behind the door of exclusivity.”
