We know when the next expansion of World of Warcraft launches. The “leak” comes directly from Blizzard through the Alpha test.
It has become a good, old tradition that the release date of a new World of Warcraft expansion is known before Blizzard officially announces it. This seems to be true again for the next addon Midnight, as new information from the Alpha reveals: It is likely starting in early March.
What kind of leak is this? Dataminers have discovered a new event in the latest version of the Alpha for Midnight in the calendar. The event does not have a name yet, but it has a remarkable duration – namely a full 6 weeks. In-game events usually last this long only when they are particularly large events, such as pre-events for a new expansion.
The new event starts on January 27, 2026, and according to the information from the calendar, it runs until March 9, 2026.
WoW: Midnight Release – Is it starting on March 10, 2026?
When would the release be? Should the leak prove to be true, Midnight would launch on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, as usual at midnight German time.
For all pre-order customers who have secured the 3-day early access, it would then start a bit earlier, namely already on Friday, March 7, 2026.
Is this 100% certain? No, it is certainly not. But considering that Blizzard has rarely changed such dates in the calendars in the past years, this is already a pretty strong indicator. Those who still need to plan their vacation for 2026 should perhaps aim for early March to be able to jump into the next expansion.
Together with previous leaks that were a bit more uncertain, the date for the release seems to be slowly becoming clearer. Those who want to be on the safe side should of course wait for an official statement from Blizzard, which will likely also publish the release date in the coming weeks.
