Players of World of Warcraft have discovered a secret. The world boss “Kosumoth the Hungerer” requires a lot of searching.
When players really love a Hippogryph
The time right around the release of an expansion is always something special in World of Warcraft, as it is marked by a great urge to explore. There are rarely any real “secrets” in Azeroth that haven’t already been leaked before release. But exactly such a secret has now been uncovered, just a week after the release of Legion.
The origin of the search was a mount that has been in the game data of World of Warcraft since 2007. A pink hippogryph that players would have liked to have during Burning Crusade, but which was never accessible. Since Legion, this hippogryph has been listed among the available mounts – with the location “Azsuna”.
A small group of players explored the Broken Isles more thoroughly than anyone else and discovered interesting things. All over the Broken Isles, there are small, hidden caves – and when we say hidden, we mean really hidden.
The Reddit user drflevel described it this way:
“To give you an idea of how well it was hidden: In a sunken ship in Azsuna, there’s a small crack in the shadows that leads to a small cave. In this cave, there’s another small crack behind some seaweed. And there you find the orb – behind three layers of hidden access.”
But the orbs had nothing to do with the hippogryph. Instead, they belong to a world boss named “Kosumoth the Hungerer” who appears in the Eye of Azshara (not in the instance, but in the actual area). To summon him, about 10 players must be positioned simultaneously in 10 hidden caves and click the orbs hidden there in the correct order. Only then does Kosumoth appear.
Kosumoth behaves like a regular rare once he appears, capable of being defeated by a group and scaling with the number of players.
What’s the bottom line? There are still some clever secrets in World of Warcraft. But how to obtain the pink hippogryph, players still do not know.
