Blizzard has now revealed when raids and mythic dungeons in World of Warcraft: Legion will be unlocked.
Endgame content in Legion will be unlocked gradually
With expansions of World of Warcraft, it is common that not all content is available right at launch. Players should have enough time to experience the various areas and zones of the game, enjoy the story, and then prepare calmly for upcoming adventures in raids and challenging dungeons. Therefore, the different variants of endgame content will be unlocked “staggered”.
Blizzard has now published the plan for how the various unlocks in Legion will proceed. Here is the current release schedule for you:
- August 30: At the launch of Legion, normal and heroic dungeons will be available immediately. Mythic dungeons will follow after the weekly ID reset (scheduled for Wednesday).
- September 20: The Emerald Nightmare raid will open on normal and heroic difficulty. Mythic Keystone can now be earned to tackle “Mythic+” dungeons.
- September 27: The Emerald Nightmare raid is now available on mythic difficulty. The first wing of the Nightmare is now also available with the Raid Finder (LFR).
- October 11: The second wing of the Emerald Nightmare is available in the Raid Finder.
- October 25: The third (and final) wing of the Emerald Nightmare is now available in the Raid Finder.
So the preliminary plan is set at least. And even then, Blizzard still has the Nighthold in store, the second raid instance, which will be released “afterwards” at some point. Perhaps the Patch 7.1 “Return to Karazhan” will be pushed out beforehand, but that will likely only be shown in the coming weeks once the corresponding patch has been tested on the test server.
