It is no longer possible to buy World of Warcraft Shadowlands from now on. This marks the definitive end of the Shadowlands expansion era.
After today’s server maintenance on October 26, 2022, the era of Shadowlands is mostly over. This means a rather pleasant change for newcomers and returners. From now on, no one will have to spend money on the “Shadowlands” expansion.
What has happened? With the launch of Patch 10.0 for World of Warcraft, the time has run out in which “Shadowlands” is the latest expansion. This also means that Shadowlands no longer needs to be purchased. From now on, the “old” expansion is part of the base game of World of Warcraft and is thus included in the monthly subscription fees.
This also means that all subscribers can now level up to level 60 and are no longer limited to level 50.
A first short film creates a lot of excitement for the new WoW add-on:
If you want to continue playing up to level 70 – which will only be possible with the launch of the new expansion at the end of November – you will then have to buy “Dragonflight”. We have already reported on the different versions of Dragonflight .
What if you just bought it? If you purchased Shadowlands only in the past few days and are now upset that the game is suddenly part of the base game, you can try to contact Blizzard’s support.
In previous expansions, Blizzard has occasionally been quite accommodating and has sometimes refunded the amount in the form of Battle.net credits so that you can instead purchase the next expansion, Dragonflight. However, there is no guarantee for this – but at least you can ask nicely.
Will you check out Shadowlands now that it is free? Or will you avoid the expansion completely until the last day and dive back in only with Dragonflight?
