The rarest mounts in World of Warcraft could lose their value. A first hint has now been found – and everyone is wildly discussing.
That old rewards are also appearing again at the trading post of World of Warcraft pleases most champions of Azeroth. However, Blizzard has now assigned a value to an item that puts this view into question. A mount that was only available for a special achievement might now become available again – and with that, the developers could break a fundamental rule.
What was found? In a new hotfix, Blizzard brought fresh items into World of Warcraft. Among them are many items that will likely end up at the trading post on February 1st.
However, the hotfix also changed something else internally, as data miners have noted. The mount “Reins of the Kor’kron War Wolf” suddenly received a value in dealer currencies – namely a proud 7,899 dealer currencies.
What kind of mount is this? The Kor’kron War Wolf is a mount used by the elite troops of Garrosh Hellscream during his time as Warchief of the Horde.
The wolf was only available back in the days of “Mists of Pandaria” for players who achieved the achievement “Ahead of the Curve: Garrosh Hellscream”, i.e., defeated the raid boss on normal or higher before patch 6.0 went live.
It is thus one of the prestige mounts that you earned through a special accomplishment.
How likely is this? This is currently being discussed animatedly in the community. Because although Blizzard has announced that they want to offer “no longer available items” through the trading post, the Reins of the Kor’kron War Wolf would create a precedent here. So far, only rewards that were available through the discontinued collectible card game or other temporary events have returned through the trading post.
If now mounts that could only be obtained through a very special achievement at a specific time are also affected – like completing a raid on high difficulty for the current content – it could upset fans. After all, these rewards have always been a proof for players to say: “Look, I played actively back then and was right there at the front.”
However, since the value of 7,899 dealer currencies is so exorbitantly high, it could also simply be an error. In any case, it is strange that the Kor’kron War Wolf has suddenly been assigned a price. Whether it will actually be available through the trading post remains to be seen.
Would you find it good if the Kor’kron Wolf returns to the game this way? Or would that be unfair to those who earned it hard back then?
WoW is also currently selling very different things – namely very strong gear for Twinks!
