With patch 11.1.5, there are new items in World of Warcraft that let you get close to Xal’atath. You don’t even have to be a priest for that.
If priests are envied in World of Warcraft, it is because they have a very special bond with the current antagonist, Xal’atath. But soon, everyone else who loves the “Knife-Waifu” can get a little closer and at least have her voice permanently in their ear – if they want to. A new reward from the Lorewalking event in patch 11.1.7 ensures that everyone can get a small piece of Xal’atath.
What kind of reward is that? For completing the quest line about the origin of Xal’atath, you will receive the toy “Echo of Xal’atath, Blade of the Black Empire.” When you use this, you receive a buff that gives you a chance to hear Xal’atath whispering to you when you kill enemies.
The whispers are the same ones that priests can hear. For instance, after a kill, Xal’atath asks you if you enjoyed it, laughs amusedly, or notes that “every little death helps.” Now and then, she also finds your slain enemies “Delicious” or simply “Boring”.
With each defeated enemy, there is a 10% chance that you will hear one of her voice lines whispered to you.
Usually, these whispers can only be heard by priests and only if they are either equipped with the artifact weapon Xal’atath or using the corresponding transmog template. However, with the toy, everyone can enjoy the slightly seductive-manic voice that congratulates you on every new victory… or mildly mocks you in amusement.
What other rewards are there? Depending on which of the “Lore-Walking” campaigns you complete, there are two more rewards.
- Memory Crystal of K’aresh: This toy transforms you into an Astral for 5 minutes, resembling the Wayfarer (“Locus-Walker”). This toy also has a cooldown of 2 hours.
- Royal Visage: A toy that transforms you into a slightly transparent Arthas Menethil in the Lich King’s armor (without the helmet) for 5 minutes. The toy has a cooldown of 2 hours.
Aside from that, there’s a secret quest line about the elves of Silvermoon, which is not yet available on the test realm. This will likely be released later after the patch’s release and already hint at the story of patch 11.2.
Even if you don’t like the toys, the new quests are worth it – because there is new story about the origin of Xal’atath.
