The new Legendary in World of Warcraft is expensive – very expensive. You need more than just luck. You also need a lot of gold.
The race for the “World First Kill” in World of Warcraft Dragonflight is over. The European players of Echo managed to secure the mythic kill on Fyrakk and thus decided the race in their favor – even though the Americans from Team Liquid followed suit just a few hours later.
However, just like in the last raid, the first kill of the mythic variant of Fyrakk has unlocked something very special: The legendary axe Fyr’alath. This can drop from the final boss and is sure to make some strength character very, very happy – at least at first glance.
Because the weapon has “hidden costs” that you first have to pay.
What about the weapon? When you equip “Fyr’alath the Dreamrender” for the first time, the weapon begins to overwhelm your character. The power of the Shadowflame is just too strong. You then receive a quest in which you learn: If you want to wield the weapon, you need to modify it with a new grip so that you are not consumed by the energies. In three steps, you must upgrade the grip to finally be able to wield the weapon.
The weapon is extremely rewarding. Because it has a strong “use” effect that can cause almost 500,000 damage to multiple targets in just 3 seconds. Additionally, there is a passive effect that places a damage-over-time effect on hit enemies, which increases damage even further when activated.
What is so expensive? The expensive part of this quest line is the necessary materials. Because while you can find some reagents in the open world, others mainly require you to dip into your wallet. Here’s the list of all crafting materials that you can either buy directly from the auction house or commission through crafting orders:
Step 1:
- Zaraleklightspores x400
- Obsidiancobrahide x3
- Dreaming Essence x 5
- Mudslimehide x 50
Step 2:
- Shadowflame Essence x10
- Cosmic Ink x250
- Rune-etched Crumb Ring x 50
Step 3:
- Awakened Fire x150
- Awakened Earth x100
- Awakened Order x 50
- Resonating Crystal x200
How expensive is it all? Even though prices fluctuate a bit, you should currently be paying between 1,000,000 and 1,200,000 gold for all the materials on most realms. It is assumed that the costs for the materials may rise a bit in the coming days as the demand increases due to the increased number of weapons.
What do you think about a Legendary still having such additional costs? A good thing to make it really special? Or way too expensive, thus devaluing the weapon?
